Angelina Jolie was born in 4th June 1975 in Los Angeles, California. She is an Oscar winning actress. Jolie is the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, the sister of actor James Haven and niece of singer-songwriter Chip Taylor. Her godparents are actors Jacqueline Bisset and Maximilian Schell. On her father’s side, Jolie is of German and Slovak descent, and on her mother’s side, she is of primarily French Canadian, Dutch, and German ancestry.

Like her mother, Jolie has stated that she is part Iroquois, although her only known indigenous ancestors were 17th century Hurons. Jolie, as a teenager found it difficult to emotionally connect with other people, and as a result she harmed herself. She also struggled with insomnia and an eating disorder, and began experimenting with drugs. By age 20, she had used just about every drug possible, particularly heroin. Jolie suffered episodes of depression and twice planned to commit suicide at age 19 and again at 22, when she attempted to hire a hitman to kill her.


When she was 24, she experienced a nervous breakdown and was admitted for 72 hours to UCLA Medical Center’s psychiatric ward. Two years later, after adopting her first child, Jolie found stability in her life, later stating, “I knew once I committed to Maddox, I would never be self-destructive again”. Jolie committed to acting profession at the age of 16, but initially she found it difficult to pass audition, she was often being told that her demeanor was too dark.



Although highly regarded for her acting abilities, Jolie had rarely found films that appealed to a wide audience, but Lara Croft: Tomb Raider in 2001 made her an international superstar. An adaptation of the popular Tomb Raider videogames, the film required her to learn an English accent and undergo extensive martial arts training to play the archaeologist-adventurer Lara Croft.

Angelina is one of Hollywood’s leading actress, known for movies like ‘Salt’ and ‘Maleficent’ and also for her relationship with Brad Pitt. She rose to stardom in the 1990s. She began acting at a young age, studying at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute while in her early teens. Jolie later attended New York University. She gave a star-making performance in the 1998 television film Gia based on the short, tragic life of model Gia Marie Carangi.


Jolie also embraced the word of sci-fi/fantasy with her roles as a squadron commander in Sky Captain and the ‘World of Tomorrow’in 2004 and a vengeful, monstrous mother in Beowulf in 2007 In the same year, Jolie gave a brilliant performance as Mariane Pearl, the pregnant widow of Wall Street Journal reporter Danny Pearl, in A Mighty Heart. The film was based on Mariane’s account of her husband’s abduction and murder.


Jolie’s humanitarian efforts:

Angelina Jolie as a devoted humanitarian was made goodwill ambassador of UN Refugee Agency in 2001. She has done a tremendous work by obtaining aid for refugee in Cambodia, Darfuq and Jordan, and many more. She keeps on drawing large attention to global issues till date.

Jolie had a serious boyfriend for two years from the age of 14. Her mother allowed them to live together in her home. He was in relation for two years and after her breakup, she dedicate herself to her acting career at the age of 16. During filming of Hackers in 1995, Jolie had a romance with British actor Jonny Lee Miller. And eventually reconnected and married soon after in March 1996. She attended her.


Their divorce, initiated by Jolie in February 1999, was finalized shortly before she remarried the next year. Prior to her marriage to Miller, Jolie began a relationship with model-actress Jenny Shimizu on the set of Foxfire in 1996. Jolie married actor Billy Bob Thornton on May 5, 2000, in Las Vegas. Jolie was involved in a well-publicized Hollywood scandal when she was accused of having caused the 2005 divorce of actors Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. She had fallen in love with Pitt during filming of Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), but dismissed allegations of an affair, saying, “To be intimate with a married man, when my own father cheated on my mother, is not something I could forgive.

The actress filed papers to end their marriage on Sept. 19, after 12 years of being together. She requested sole physical custody of their six children, Maddox, Pax, Shiloh, Zahara, and twins Vivienne and Knox. She also asked the judge to grant Brad visitation rights. Pitt will apparently get visitations. Brad and Angelina will undergo individual councelling as well as family councelling together with their six children. Right now Angelina is reportedly laying low with her six children in a massiveMalibu holiday home.
