Playing for England in Euro 2004, he was recognized throughout the world as he spearheaded the English attack (scoring 4 goals).  Playing for England in Euro 2004, Rooney led his team win Swiss Player but was knocked out by Portugal in quarter finals when Rooney was injured.

Injured in his right foot Rooney after the match against Chelsea on 29th April 2006, he was not allowed to play for at least 6 weeks.

After completion of 6 weeks, doctor let Rooney play for following matches.  On June 20, in final match, his team was able to make draw of 2-2 with Sweden. On June 25, despite failing to play against Ecuador, Rooney left the stage very lively and appeared to be fully fit.

Playing against Portugal in the quarter finals, he along with his team was unable to make good impression. Their offensive tactics was not considered to be good. Despite his effort to play well, Rooney was handed 2 Red cards in this match because he was cantankerous.

2010:

It was disappointing for England. England lost against Germany in the second round of World Cup. Though England was unable to be in consecutive match, Rooney was speculated to be the key performer by others in this season.
